The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club : Lord Peter Wimsey #4
Author(s): Dorothy L. Sayers
A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatization starring Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter Wimsey
General Fentiman can be found every day at his club, settled with a newspaper in his favorite chair. So it comes as a shock when another member notices that the general isn't sleeping at all-he is dead.
The dignified calm of the Bellona Club is shattered, and it is up to aristocratic amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey to sort out the nasty business. Was this a straightforward death by natural causes? Perhaps ... but why can no one remember seeing the general enter the club the day he died?
Above all, the exact time of the general's death must be determined, for an inheritance of half a million pounds depends on it. With so much money at stake, could his heirs, both club members, be lying?
Moving between London and Paris, salon and suburbs, Lord Peter untangles an intriguing case that will tax his extraordinary brain to the limit.
Ian Carmichael stars as Lord Peter, with the late Peter Jones as Bunter, and Martin Jarvis as George Fentiman, in this full-cast dramatization of one Dorothy L. Sayers' most popular mysteries.
Dorothy L Sayers was born in Oxford in 1893, and was both a classical scholar and a graduate in modern languages. As well as her popular Lord Peter Wimsey series, she wrote several religious plays, but considered her translations of Dante's Divina Commedia to be her best work. She died in 1957. www.sayers.org.uk
