Jennifer Gonzalez (Survey) is Assistant Professor in the Art History Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the recipient of a Humanities Research Institute Residency Fellowship for her work 'Confession and Conquest: Autobiography in the Americas'. She has written numerous articles, catalogue essays and reviews, including 'The Appended Subject: Race and Identity as Digital Assemblage' in Race in Cyberspace (1999), 'Installation Art', Encyclopaedia of Aesthetics (1998). She is credited with inspiring the 'Riot Grrl' movement in the late 1980s and produced Hole's first album Pretty on the Inside (1991).
