Lester Bangs was a celebrity within the world of rock n roll from the early 70's to his death in 1982. A musician himself, he was driven by his love for the music and contempt for all pretension. He was a prolific and hugely gifted writer, as much part of the scene as he was a writer about it. This book covers a vast range of music from Presley, through the Animals and the Yardbirds, on to Lennon, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and finally the Ramones, Sex Pistols and the whole burgeoning New York punk scene of the early 1980's.
