New Poetries IV : An anthology

Author(s): Eleanor Crawforth, Stephen Procter & Michael Schmidt (eds)

Poetry

Like the previous three anthologies in the series, "New Poetries IV" provides readers with an opportunity to sample, often for the first time, the work of English-language poets from Britain and abroad. The names of the eleven poets featured may be unfamiliar now, but the varied accomplishment of their writing, their formal scope and the breadth of their themes suggest that they will not remain so. Without boundaries of age, gender or nationality, "New Poetries" both showcases exciting new talents and re-introduces one or two poets who have begun again in a new way. Taking us to real and imagined landscapes in north and south America, eastern and western Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and elsewhere, the writers included in "New Poetries" together suggest something more potent than a school or movement, displaying a variety of achievement and potential unusual in introductory anthologies. First published June 2007.
