An accompaniment to our Salon series event with Katherine Brabon, author of The Shut Ins and The Memory Artist.


A limited edition pamphlet featuring a transcription of the Paperback Bookshop's Anna Macdonald in conversation with Katherine Brabon about her 2021 novel The Shut Ins. Also features a newly commisioned piece of writing from Brabon, 'In Japan, on writing The Shut Ins' and photography. 


Katherine Brabon is a writer from Melbourne. Her debut novel The Memory Artist won the 2016 The Australian/Vogel’s Literary Award and was shortlisted in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. She was co-winner of the David Harold Tribe Fiction Award in 2019 and runner up in the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize in 2020. She is a regular contributor to Lindsay magazine. The Shut Ins is her second novel.


Anna MacDonald is a bookseller at The Paperback and author of Between the Word and the World and A Jealous Tide.
