EXTENDED REMIX MICK ROCK BIO Mick Rock's career went into high gear when he photographed an almost unknown David Bowie in 1972. The two established an instant rapport and Mick went on to document the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust, amassing thousands of photographs, shooting posters, and album artwork, as well as producing and directing the seminal videos for 'Space Oddity', 'Jean Genie' and 'Life on Mars'. His reputation as 'the man who shot the Seventies' was cemented with iconic images of Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, Iggy Pop, Queen, Roxy Music, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones and Blondie. More recently, Mick has photographed (among many others) Kate Moss, The Scissor Sisters, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Chemical Brothers, Richard Ashcroft, Perry Farrell, Pete Yorn, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Killers. In the last decade, he has published a series of critically acclaimed books, including Psychedelic Renegades: Photos of Syd Barrett; Moonage Daydream: The Life and Times of Ziggy Stardust; Picture This: Debbie Harry & Blondie; Raw Power: Iggy and the Stooges; Killer Queen and Rocky Horror, as well as two books on Kabuki Theatre. His classic images have also featured in major one-man shows in London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Stockholm and other cities across the world. Mick's celebrated 2003 retrospective at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography was hailed by the Japanese press as 'one of the finest collections of pop art to ever reach these shores'. A resident of New York since the early 80s, he remains, in the words of the London Times, 'the music world's top snapper'.
